Che Pang Khor

So Pangkor Island's name come from a Chinese name....CHE PANG KHOR...! Hmm...I just got to know it when got down from the jetty and while waiting for the taxi. Wait..wait..wait...how do I come here...? Okay here is the flash back..:)

It was year end, month end and of course weekend...and I am supposed to clear my annual leaves which are 5.5 days. So I planned well to spend it with my sithi's (my mom's sis) house at Ipoh. So I took early bus on Sat 17th Dec at 7.30am and reached Ipoh at 9.45am. After get refreshed and relaxed few hours, we started our journey at 3pm. Since it's only an hour traveling from Ipoh we moved quite late. All our journey was full of fun and laughs. Reached Lumut at 5.45pm...it was that late because we stop here and there along our journey. Somehow we get into the Ferry at 6pm.

My sithi and her cute daughter Priya.

Sithappa with his naughty sons beside him. Oops lil shake..!

My lil bro who is giving pose for my lensa...

 The Ferry Ride....

So... the ferry ride was very comfortable. Big and spacious, fully air-conditioned. But if you wish to take some fresh air, then you can enter the back door to see the sea view and breath the fish smell. Yes..most Pangkorian's income are from "fish catching technology"....hehe;) and Pangkor is famous for the anchovies and salted fish.

Reached the Che Pang Khor at 6.30pm. So now you can guess where the first photo I mentioned earlier was taken. In a hurry we forgot to do something, you know what is that..? We forgot to book hotel or never take down any numbers of hotel which listed in the Lumut Jetty itself. Still we think its not a big matter at all. Because it is not Christmas or New Year eve, for the guests to filled up the room. But when we got into the van taxi, the taxi uncle informed there was a festival going on in Pangkor and most of the hotels are fully booked. Yes, while we looking for hotel rooms we passed through the place. Its Festival Puisi dan Lagu Rakyat Antarabangsa 2011 which held on the 17-18th Dec 2011. The chief guest is DYTM Raja Muda Perak (the most handsome man in kerabat diraja Perak that I've ever known) and few ministers as well. So that is why the ferry ride for 18th will be free for everybody.

The taxi uncle was very friendly. His name is K.V. Karunanithi and his contact number is 012-505 7079. You can call his number and just book his van for your tour. He was so good to bring us from hotel to hotel till we found a budget hotel which is very near to the beach. Oh...its not hotel actually, its called Standard Pangkor Camp...yup camp..!

  The view from the road....

The entrance to the rooms....

The corridor...the 2 doors opened was our rooms No.3 and No.4

Well, since the name is camp so they designed few rooms like this.

We took 2 rooms for RM120 each per night. When we entered the rooms, they were totally new and even can smell its newly painted. Its small, not luxurious yet very convenient. Its fully air-conditioned come with king size bed, tv, cupboard, dressing table and attached bathroom with heater. Just nice for a family. Well, the price may vary at not peak hours. Because the normal beach resort rooms which is RM200 was raised to RM500 on that day just because of that festival. So this RM 120 at normal day would be more cheaper.

The bedroom....

The bathroom...

So this is their business card. This camp was run by one Chinese family. They were very friendly and helpful. The plus of the camp is, it is very very clean, convenient and just a walking distance to the beach and the restaurants and shops.

After we kept our things in the room, we rushed to the restaurant which is just next door to our Camp room. Its not like next door exactly but next lot...its just less than 5 minutes walking distance from the room. The restaurant name is Coco Restaurant.

Along the way to the restaurant, Rambutan tree with full fruits will be welcoming you...

While waiting for food that we ordered to be arrived soon...some poses by my cute lil sis..:)

 Fish curry Asam Pedas...

 Fried Prawn.....

Sotong Ketchup...

Kangkung with Belacan...

 Mix vege.....

And.......

Here is how its end....;)

Just after the dinner, we walked back to our room and get refreshed. Taking the hot bath at the fast shower was awesome. Make us feel so soothing when resting on the bed. After few minutes chit chat, we planned to go for a walk at beach. But my uncle planned to eat the "ikan bakar" (grilled fish). Yes its not to be missed agenda if ever come to Pangkor Island.

Ikan Bakar with sambal belacan and fresh orange juice is really a good combination for late dinner.

After the ikan bakar session...before home made tea for supper....I really love this picture. While my uncle were in his room, all of us like to gather here and make jokes and have fun.

Its sandy time.....
The next morning we wake up 8.30am and I bring the kids to beach and did some exercise and let them have some warm up session. Then I let them played in the water while looking after our things and taking some photos. The kids were not that much enjoyed coz the sea water has strong fish smell and not clean.

 She is really a poser....

After had some fun at the beach, we get refreshed and packed our things to check out at 12pm. Then after had a lunch at nearby restaurant, we took van and reached jetty. There were such a long queue of peoples waiting for free ride. Because the ferry service is free on that day and there were no special schedule for the transport. So first come will get first ferry.

 While waiting for ferry....

We waited for 1 hour in the queue till we get the ferry. Reached Lumut at 5pm. Did some shopping there. What is the most famous there...?

Anchovies of course...!

After the shopping, my uncle never stop anywhere and straight headed to Ipoh. We reached home at 6pm. It was nice, simple and happy holiday trip for us. Overall...we enjoyed:)
