Novel Plain Jane...symbolises Me about 60%
This story book was highly recommended by my cousin sis. She said you read “Plain Jane” you’ll like it. So I checked the availability of the book at MPH customer service. Yeah, the MPH at One Utama outlet have 2 copies and I immediately reserved 1 for me. I bought this book while coming back home after work. It was on 19th October 2010.
I start reading “Plain Jane” the next day. It is a story about a gal named, Kis…Balkis…Siti Nurbalkis binti Sulaiman, in tan, black eyes and soft and small curly hair, with the height 161cm and weight 60kg and her BMI was around 18.9 – 24.9 which was normal and more important not obesity. But her dissatisfaction was about people who would like to say she is plum even though her BMI was in normal category. As a final year psychology student who is staying at campus hostel, with simple and plain outlook, who have a wonderful family and a best ever friend, Lee…Lilee…Tengku Aklilee bt Tengku Ramli. Kis enjoys living as how she is being. Her one and only problem was her great enemy, the wanna-be gals leader, Ana..!
Yes, this is how the story starts on. It was all about Kis and the things happening around her and the guys she met in her life. She crazily admires Arman, the Jawa guy, her uni-mate cum band member and also 1 of the wanna-be gals’ boyfriend. Apis Milo, the guy who looks after the shop in the university campus. Khir, the pharmacist, the guy who helped her in finding wheelchair for her psychology class experiment. And Daniel Adam, aka Zaniel…Zanny the Danny, the MD of Digital Life, who get cheated by her experiment..and later on falls for her..! Who are these guys and how they get involved in her life..? What was the impacts and changes that she gets in her life from them?
It’s a must read story by all the simple looking girls including me, who are eagerly waiting for their Mr.Darcy (the hero in Jane Austen’s book, the favourite hero of Kis). I can say 60% of the story had happened in my life too. The moral of the story was awesome and meaningful. The ways she narrated was so simple and easy to understand and imagine. Yes I used to imagine the story in my mind while reading it…and I’m sure all of you will do the same right..? right or not..?

Adam & Hawa...My first ever novel
Prologue...
This story book was in 1 inch size and when I grab it in a hurry, I'm very sure that I can't finish reading it even I keep it for rest of my life. I hate big novels...!! Yes, I pretended like reading this novel, just to make people think that I'm not left out.......
It was beautiful, rainy Sunday evening. Do you know why did I said it was beautiful? Aha..:) its my best friend Sal's engagement day. Well, I really enjoyed the function from starting to the end. But at the time the lunch started on after the prayers, I was quite shy and be seated inside the bride's room. I don't know why...some kind of shy feeling...which is unexplainable..;) I was vegetarian due to my prayers for the whole month and I couldn't enjoy the delicious food which was prepared by Sal's family.
Then I found this book which accompanied me in the room while waiting for the guest to leave. So I pretended like reading a story book just to make people think that I'm not left out alone in the function. But I wasn't left out by them even for a minute, coz Sal's mom always come and asked me to join the lunch together with them. And peeps into the room whether I'm comfortable or not. So to make her not worry about me...I pretend like I'm enjoying the story book.
I just read the first page and it hooked me up into it. This story starts with the prologue of a wife who is waiting for her beloved husband arrival from overseas. Ain....Ain Hawani, who had just finished her SPM and was going for an interview to join as temp staff in a kindergarten. She left her family at her hometown and came to KL with a big hope and ambition to achieve in her life.
She met Adam...Adam Mukhriz Galaspie, mixed blood of malay and english, a handsome pilot, the younger brother of the kindergarten's owner. Adam, whom liked by many gals, become the heartthrob of many rich girl in that area.
Ain's opinion about Adam, he is a playboy and Adam's opinion about Ain was, she is the "perempuan melayu terakhir" and that blossoms love in him. Due to some revenge on Adam by his girlfriend Dina, Ain and Adam was caught in "khalwat" by the agama people. To save the dignity of the family Ain's uncle agreed to marry her to Adam, and when Ain against them she was forced to do so. Ain left to her hometown and flied to Australia once she got the offer from the overseas university.
The story become more interesting when she met her mother-in-law in Australia who loves to call her Hawa, meeting Adam again upon her mother-in-law's request, not compromised by Adam's apologize, continued to study MBA, met Johan and become friends. Then the real story will start again when she met with Adam whom she hated the most, after 8 years, at Masjidiharam, Mecca when both were performing their "Umrah". I really loved the way Aisya Sofea narrated their meeting point at the Mecca City. So the second half of the story revolves around Ain, lecturer of UITM with anger and sadness in her life and Adam, a pilot trainer whom were in different prism of life, with his heart-full of love towards Ain which stands still and strong.
Ain shocked to discover that she is still the legal wife of Adam along the 8 years where Adam had never failed to give her the "duit nafkah". Her heart was slowly captured by Adam's divine love and his faith towards God. She was touched by his prayer at his house for his late father-in-law. Her arrival at Adam's house was warmly welcomed and showered with love by her mother-in-law and her sister-in-laws who is her ex-employee at kindergarten. Ain at last will accept Adam and at the end the writer will narrate the epilogue of the Ain's story as she awaits Adam in KLIA with their baby girl Arissa.
Epilogue.......
I couldn't believe that I managed to finish this story book just in a week. I like the writer's way of narrating the story. And I lived in the mood of Adam & Hawa life for more than a month. It really gives me a 'break'. My first ever novel and the unforgettable one.
p/s: Thanks to Mimi, Sal's lil sister who gave the book to me after see my status and comments at facebook abt this book...hehehe thanks dearie...:)
